Site Location
Existing
Kesson House, the former care facility, is located in a prominent position at the confluence of Council Avenue and East and West Kent Avenue’s.
The backdrop is a unique one, a landscape that has been forged in part by its industrial legacy; one where gorges, bridges, tunnels and cliffs connect the surrounding former chalk quarries.

Proposal
Looking to retain the part of the building that formed the original Kesson House, whilst removing the inappropriate 1950’s extensions, has allowed the single site to accommodate two separate elements but with highly compatible user groups.
The repurposing of the retained house for a supported living usage, providing independent living opportunities for young adults with learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries; allows the remaining site to deliver new affordable social housing.
